Should Full-Site Editing be in WordPress 5.8?

The cat is out of the bag: full-site editing will be part of WordPress 5.8. But if you have been following my experiments with full-site editing, you might be surprised by this.

Both my articles on building a block-based theme and on implementing the global styles feature show that full-site editing is still in its early phases.

So what is the new release plan? And is it realistic to release full-site editing within the next five months?

In my view, no. Let’s look at why.
